Kagiso Trust is one of South Africa’s leading development agencies working toward a prosperous, peaceful, equitable and just society. We believe in the power of partnership and entrepreneurship to create positive change and help develop financially sustainable SMEs by working with black led businesses.
Lack of skills has been identified as one of the impediments for the transformation of the property sector. As such, Kagiso Trust in partnership with, Motseng Property Group and South African Supplier Diversity Council (SASDC) is desirous to implement an impactful and fit-for-purpose accelerator programme. We want to walk the journey with emerging property entrepreneurs in the commercial property sector and are calling you to register with the PROPreneurX “The Property Accelerator”.
The market size of the property sector in South Africa is R5.8-trillion (2015/16). Residential property contributes R3.9-trillion, Commercial property represents R1.3-trillion, while public properties and zoned land were valued at R237-billion and R520 billion respectively. The overall market size of commercial property in relation to the GDP of SA, its impact on property and the value chain of property, is vast and necessitates active transformation to redress the state of the sector and improve areas of preferential procurement.
It has now become critical for business and industry leaders to assess appropriate mechanisms to:
▪ Address the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in the most practical manner and ensure that it is leveraged as a tool for growth.
▪ Identify opportunities to re-skill existing talent and attract new talent within the sector.
▪ Support and encourage entrepreneurial talent to drive job creation and expand the sector by creating access to market opportunities.
Kagiso Trust, Motseng and the South African Supplier Diversity Council (SASDC)have identified the commercial property sector as a suitable platform to support entrepreneurs servicing the property sector. Our approach will be a new property accelerator (ProPreneurX), as well as masterclasses which will include capacity-building, knowledge-sharing, innovation, technology, environmental awareness
and mentoring which will be provided by the Youth Innovation Entrepreneurship Design Institute (YIEDI) over a six-month period.
